Day 2 - Desenzano, Sirmione & Sigurta Park

On our 2nd day, we got up early, ate a good breakfast and headed to Desenzano del Garda for a morning walk.

Only a 5-minute drive from Colombare, Desenzano is the southest city on the west bank of Lake Garda, a perfect place

to start your morning - walk along the promenade, feed the ducks & enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the lake.

After the morning got brighter, we made our way to the historic center of Sirmione - a very touristic location that most certainly will leave a long lasting impression. Immediately when you enter the historic center, you are faced with a stunning structure - Rocca Scaligera, a fortress built in the 14th century by the Scaligeri family, the rulers of Verona.

We've spent inside the fortress for something like an hour, amazed by the strength of the structure, and the dazzling view to the lake.

Tip: Don't be lazy - go all the way up the tower, it is totally worth it.

After our time in the fortress, we walked our way through the streets and had our first taste of local ice cream -

what an amazing experience! Million kinds of flavors and special ice cream cones, coated with chocolate and what not.

Do yourselves a favor - eat ice cream in Sirmione!

Although the historic center is not big, take the time to walk through the colorful streets of Sirmione, the place has a special vibe and full of little magical places like this one -

If you have the time, you can take a ferry that will take you through the cities of Lake Garda (like Bardolino, Malcesine, Limone...), just make sure to ask for the exact hours on the information center just outside the historic city.

Right after Sirmione, we proceeded straight to Sigurta Park (Parco Sigurta) of the town Paschiera del Garda.

Only 15-minute drive from Colombare, across a stunning contry-side roads, you'll arrive to the park, that was founded in 1617 and holds beautiful vast green fields, with hundreds of different flowers and vegetation.

you can explore the park on foot, or to rent a golf cart like we did - a bit expensive, but provides a very unique way to experience the park.

Happy and fullfild with joy, we returned to the hotel to freshen up, and went to dinner in Quanto Basta Restorante in Colombare. a very homely place, with extremely nice owners and of course - delicious Pasta.

Time to go to sleep, big day ahead of us.
