Day 1 - Landing in Milano, heading out to Sirmione

And so our trip begins!

We landed in Malpensa, Milano's Airport. After a 10-minute ride on the shuttle to the Landings zone, we picked up our luggage, and went to get our car.

From the airport, it takes between 40-45 minute drive to get to the center of Milano.

Due to a malfunction in our GPS app, we navigated using signs only, which were very clear and easy

to recognize.

To get to the center of Milano, you simply take road SP336 and drive your way to the A8 toll road, which takes you all the way to Milano.

Easy so far? good, this is where it stops...

Milano is one of the most central cities in Italy, and driving your car through the city streets, can be very daunting -  heavy traffic, a lot of passengers, bicycles & bikes, that could get you out of focus very quickly.

Tip: Try to park your car outside the city center. The parking will be cheaper, and you're mind will be busy thinking about the trip and not on how to NOT run-over someone with your car.

Since it's our first trip abroad, It's pretty hard navigating with all that excitement & nervousness.

So after a lot of driving in circles trying to find a central parking lot and wasting precious time, we

decided firstly to make our GPS work, and then to proceed to the hotel in Colombare, Sirmione, our

first stop of the trip - a commune in the province of Brescia , located at the lower part of Lake Garda.

And so we did - we asked for directions to the A4 toll-road (that will be our main road during the whole trip) and started our 2-hour drive to Colombare, Sirmione.

To Colombare we arrived approximately at 19:00PM, and checked-in our hotel for the next 3 days - Hotel Alfieri (more details on the "Recommendations" section).

After a warm welcome with a glass of fine Italian wine, we went out for a walk in Colombare di Sermione - a beautiful quiet district, paved with stones, that holds many little places to explore.

With delicious Italian Pizza in our belly, we went to sleep, in order to get up early for our day in the Desenzano del Garda & the historic center of Sirmione.
