Day 4 & 5 - Venice, or should we say - Venezia

Alright, it's day 4!

Today we are going to one of the trip's highlights - Venice!

We got up to an early breakfast, checked-out from Hotel Alfieri after a wonderful 3 night stay, and

started driving to our next host - La Foresteria B&B, at the town of Spinea.

Spinea is approximately 1.5-2 hours away from Colombare, and only 30 minutes away from Venice, what makes

it a perfect place to crash after a day of exploring in the "floating city".

When we arrived the B&B, we were warmly welcomed by the owner of the place - Vanni. A very nice and warm individual

who made our days in Venice & Spinea very easy and enjoyable, simply by sitting with us, explaining our ways of

transportation and recommending sites that suits our taste and our time.

Tip: We recommend you to purchase the Venice Card at a local paper store. for one-time payment, this card gives you free access at all the buses in-and-to Venice.

As planned, we left our car at Vanni's and took a bus straight to Venice, into the main square of the city - Piazzale Roma.

From there, your only way of transportation are the water buses to get from one area to the other.

We took the water bus all the way to the biggest square in Venice, Piazza San Marco, and started our tour from the square itself where we fed the pigeons -

We were lucky enough to arrive on the same day that the San Marco church had a big ceremony at the square, and it was very special to be there with all of those people while this was happening -

We continued our walk to the Alto Bridge, a milestone in the Venitian view, and enjoyed getting lost in the narrow streets

of this beautiful city (you can, and you should let yourselves do that, you can really enjoy the vibe of this city, there's magic behind every corner).

Later we returned back to San Marco square, on the way there we bought a delicious Calzone, along with a bottle of a local beer, which we ate just outside the church, a fantastic break.

Afterwards, we decided to go all the way up the Clock Tower, where we could see Venice in all of its glory and the highlight of the ceremony.

Dazzled from this magical day, we took the water bus back to Piazzale Roma, where we took the bus back to Spinea.

On the next day, we started our journey from the upper side of Venice, on the Jewish Ghetto (Campo de Gheto Novo),

one of the oldest ghettos in the world. An essential place to visit, and to remember.

From there we made our way back to Piazza San Marco, on the way there we shuffled through the stores and bought some gifts and souvenirs. On the Piazza we entered the astonishing museum of the Doges Palace - Historically it combined the residence of the head of state with the offices of Venice's government, and the state prison.

This place will take your breath away. Try to get there early, it's getting busy pretty quickly. it's a must-see!

Right after our tour at the museum, we headed back early to our B&B, so we could gather our strengths, and get

ready for our long drive north the next day - away to the Dolomites!
